Venus, Jupiter and the Crescent Moon | 7:52 pm of February 26, 2012

— to be updated soon —

An image that I took with Andre Obidos during the rare occultation of Venus by the moon last May 16, 2010 that got featured in Amateur Astronomy picture of the Day (AAPOD) last June 2.

That is a beautiful shot. Congratulations on AAPOD! It reminds me of the Venus occultation of 4-22-09, which is the only planetary occultation I’ve witnessed so far (unfortunately I didn’t have my camera yet then). Do you know of a good site with info about upcoming occultations within a few years ahead? By the way, on your link to my site it’s linked to a comment rather than to the main astrophotography page. But thanks again for honoring me with the link!

    • Thank you! :) We were lucky that the sky cleared up that night.

This is the link which I know has a catalog of planetary transits and occultations (by the moon). You may want to check it out.

By the way, I already edited the link to your site. Thanks for reminding!

      Clear skies!
